VAYU BISON
Introducing the Vayu Bison. A watch inspired by the legendary MiG-21, that protected Indian skies for over 62 years.
The watch takes several cues from the MiG-21 series of fighter aircrafts, specifically the clock found inside majority of the jets. The timekeeping device inside a MiG-21 features 2 sub dials, at 12 and 6, which is where we had the idea to use the vertical chronograph. A telemeter and tachymeter are added to ‘upgrade’ the usability of the dial, similar to how the MiG’s were upgraded to the Bison with Kopyo Radars, R77 missiles and much more modern equipment. For time reading legibility, the hour markers are in a different colour to the sub dials and other markings. The case is inspired by the shape of the fighter aircraft, where the nested canopy rests on the body of the plane and blends with the fuselage.
